Abstract
227,368. Schueler, G. R. July 11, 1924. Fats and fatty oils, extracting by pressure.-In presses of the kind comprising an annular compression chamber C with a perforated wall B, a hollow hydraulic ram D, and a closing ring E supported by small hydraulic rams F or by pistons mounted in springs whereby the ring will yield under predetermined pressure and allow the compressed material to escape, the ring E is made of separate segments each supported independently to yield under the same pressure. In the press shown the ring is made of 12 segments each supported by a ram F working in a pocket a in the base A of the press, the pockets being connected through pipes g<3>, pockets g<2>, and pipes g<1>, g to a hydraulic accumulator G weighted to the pressure at which the ring E is to yield. When the rams F are mounted on springs, a threaded bolt is provided for adjusting the tension of each spring. Specification 230,689 is referred to.
