Abstract

Lantern doors and door fittings.-In a vehicle or like outdoor non-electric lamp, an outer door 6 carrying a bell fitting 12 and a lens 13 is secured to the front of the casing 2 by a hinge 5 and an inner door, which forms a baffle plate, comprises a fixed portion 1 carrying the hinge 4 of a movable portion 3 which has an opening 9 provided with an outwardly-extending flange 11 and coaxial with an opening 10 in the outer door 6. When the two doors are closed the outer door 6 bears resiliently against the flange 11 and inwardly extending flanges on one or more of the three free edges of the movable portion 3 press resiliently against the inner walls of the casing 2 to form a substantially air-tight fit so as to prevent the extinction of the flame by air currents. A transverse rib may be provided within the bottom of the casing to serve as a stop for the movable portion 3 and further to impede the passage of air currents. The inner door, or a movable portion thereof, may be hinged at either edge or at the bottom, or it may be fitted in as a loosed detachable piece.
