Abstract

226,609. McIsack, H. J. Sept. 25, 1923. Davits.-Relates to davits of the type luffed by inwardly-extending toothed segments which, when the davits are inboard, extend into curved sheaths arranged beneath the deck. The davits A are hinged at a to struts c which are pivoted at b to the side of the ship. An additional support is furnished by a column E terminating in an eye d through which the davit works. The inboard geared part of the davit extends into the sheath n and is guided by a lever D the heel of which works in a thwartship guide c. The davits are luffed by interconnected winches which comprise a gear wheel H in mesh with the rack B and also with the gear wheel K operated by the handle f. The winches associated with the davits are interconnected by a common shaft.
