Abstract

226,105. Coombes, F. May 30, 1924. Knobs and handles, attaching.-A spindle S has a recess A in which a separate piece C with ratchet teeth is placed. This piece is pressed upwards by a curved blade-spring B so that when the handle or knob H is pressed on to the spindle, a tooth D inside the bore of the knob engages one of the teeth on the piece C and so secures the handle. The piece C carries a row of teeth to allow for different thicknesses of doors. The knob is detached by pressing down the piece C by an awl &c. inserted in the hole E.
