Abstract

224,485. Sizer, A. W. April 30, 1923. Extrusion machines.-In expressing liquor from oil-bearing seed and continuously manufacturing cattle cake therefrom, the material after preliminary treatment is forced through a number of die plates in sequence, means being provided to allow free escape of oil throughout the whole of the expressing treatment, and the material extruded from the final die plate is severed into short cakes. Die plates 7, 8, 23 with tapering die passages are mounted loosely on a worm shaft in alternation with worm sections 4, 5, 6. To prevent rotation the die plates may be keyed into the casing 9, which is formed of annular laminµ or of longitudinal staves. The meal after passing through a final die plate 14 is cut into short bars by a rotating blade. Acoording to the Provisional Specification there may be a jacketed outer casing.
