Abstract

171,206. Sizer, A. W. Aug. 21, 1920. Fatty oils, extracting by pressure. In a moulding machine in which two rotating drums have moulds formed on their peripheries and rotate in contact, fine passages are formed connecting the moulds with the interior to carry away expressed oil, moisture, &c. One or both drums may have a number of annular discs B, clamped on the perforated hollow cylinder A by rings C, C'. The discs are suitably cut to form moulds as described in Specification 120,747 and have fine grooves for the oil &c. to pass through into the cylinder and through the passages into and through the hollow shaft D. The drums may be composed of a number of plates having radial cut-away parts and secured in staggered relation by bolts between end plates on a shaft. The oil &c. is passed away through a hole in the boss or central portion of some plates and through the hollow shaft. The drum may also be built up of a number of longitudinal plates arranged radially around a central body or on the shaft. The material is fed to the drums under high pressure by a worm in a casing.
