Corks and plain plug stoppers; materials, specical, for stoppers; coating,s for stoppers.- In a stopper for vacuum flasks &c., the surface which contacts with the neck of the container is resilient whilst the end that is normally exposed to the contents of the flask is covered by dental rubber, vulcanite, &c. integral with the resilient surface but rendered hard and impermeable by heat treatment. The lower end b, Fig. 1, of a soft rubber or rubber composition a is rendered hard by vulcanization, the upper end c being similarly treated. In another form, a metal core d, Fig. 2, is surrounded by a layer e of soft dental rubber &c., the lower part f of which is vulcanized.
