Crown corks; stoppers, making; coatings for packing-discs.-In a crown cork closure for a bottle the natural or composition cork cushioning- disc is coated on its exposed surface only with an impermeable wax compound, such as a cerasine wax combined with a bleaching agent. To assemble the closure memebr, a cushioning-disc b is placed in a metallic cap a, which has just received a quantity of cement c, and the wax comoound d is squirted on the exposed side of the disc. The whole is subjected to heat and pressure to spread the wax and bond the parts together, and then allowed to cool to harden the wax and cement.
