Crown corks. - The side walls 7 of a "crown cork " is extended to form a stepped or tapered tag 6 having a slot through which a flat metal - strip 8 may be passed to lever the cap off the bottle. The slot is wider than the narrowest part of the tag so that the tag of another cap may be used in place of the strip 8.
