Abstract
223,825. Julien, J. D. April 25, 1924. Vibration - dampers.- The arms of frictional shock-absorbers are connected to the chassis and axle by universal or compound joints each consisting of a transverse pin carried by a bracket on the vehicle and rotatably passing through the axis of a bearing piece rotatably mounted within a housing on the arm with its axis in alignment with the axis of the arm. The arms 3, 4, Fig. 1, are connected to the chassis and axle by transverse pins 22, Figs. 1 and 4, rotatably passing through the axis of a bearing piece 23 of lignum vitae &c., which is rotatably mounted within a housing 24 in the arm, the said axis being in alignment with the axis of the arm. The form of shock-absorber is of the type described in Specification 223,826 and comprises two pressure discs 1, 2, Fig. 3, grooved to engage an annular friction element 7, friction discs 10, 11 engaging recesses in the pressure discs 1, 2 a divided hub 13, 14, a central bolt 17, spring pressure plates 18, 19 and a convex plate 20.
