Abstract

223,649. Graham, E. A. July 23. 1923. Magnetic instruments.-The magnetic system of a loud-speaking telephone receiver is adjusted away from the diaphragm against the action of a spring by a lever of the first order and an adjusting screw. The magnets a, Fig. 1, which are pressed towards the diaphragm f by a spring c, have a stem b extending downwardly and notched on opposite sides at g to receive the forked end h<2> of a lever h of the first order. The lever is formed with a boss s to constitute a fulcrum, with bearings at the other end for a trunnion nut u through which passes an adjusting screw o. The screw works freely through a fixed support such as a leg d<2> of the telephone stand, and is provided with a knurled knob o<1>. A stop x on the base of the telephone casing and a cross pin w passing through the screw o limit the movement of the lever. Knife-edges v are formed on the forked end h<2> to bear on the walls of the slots g. In a modification, Fig. 4, the adjusting screw y fixed to the base of the telephone casing passes through a hole in the lever and has an adjusting nut z.
