Abstract
242,350. Witt, S. E. Aug. 6, 1924. Magnetic instruments. - Relates to a loud-speaking telephone receiver similar to that described and claimed in Specification 242,351. In the present form the unit comprising the electromagnet 24, with an armature 30 connected to the diaphragm 13 and an adjustable spring 36 acting on the armature is mounted in a bridge-piece 16 and is adjustable by means of a rod 24<1> passing through the bridge 16. A mounting 26 carrying the unit is urged towards the diaphragm by a leaf spring 28. The core 24 forms a continuation of the rod 24<1> and a sleeve 27 is threaded round the rod 24<1>. The spring 36 is mounted in a block 37, Fig. 6, and is held therein by a screw 40 clamping the sides of the block, which is slotted at 39. The block 37 rests on a knife edge 41 and is adjusted by a screw 43 and nut 44. The spring 36 serves to flex the diaphragm so that all vibrations take place within the concave formed by the flexure, as in 242,351. The armature may be polarized, and is connected to the diaphragm so that an amplified movement is imparted thereto.
