Abstract

222,155. Ferrand, F. March 21, 1923. Spindle apparatus. - In spindle apparatus of the kind described in Specification 207,568, wherein the speed of the spindle is controlled by balls which move under the action of centrifugal force in radial grooves or recesses in discs or the like and coact with a stationary part, the recesses 10 in the disc 9 are inclined at an angle between 30‹ and 70‹ to the horizontal and the balls coact with a disc 12 clamped between a cup 4 and its cap 7. Preferably the recesses make an angle of about 20‹ or 22‹ with the spindle, and radiate from its lower end. The footstep is mounted in the cup 4 and a bearing 8 for the spindle is carried in the cap 7.
