Abstract

221,760. Baglin, C. A. May 2, 1924. Strainer separators. - A continuously-acting centrifugal dryer has a rotor, composed of a distributor and separator, the section of which is a curve of variable inclinations decreasing towards its greatest diameter. The boss B with the arms C carries the curved distributor A to which is attached by bolts K the multicellular ring E with thin perforated plates or grids F; a deflecting ring G is secured to the end of the ring E to direct the separated water to the compartment H, and the dried material to the compartment I of the casing. The material is admitted to the rotor at the small end through the shoot A'. The larger end is closed by the gate 0 which is held in position by means of the cam T and the rollers Y, Y' on the slide W. The wheel U and the cam T are rotated independently of the separator shaft and at a convenient speed, so that when the cam is in the proper position the pressure of the dried material moves the gate 0 and slide W and the material is discharged. The cam then closes the gate again. A compression spring D<1> may assist in opening the gate.
