Description

DETACHABLE BABY BOLSTER This invention relates to improvements in or relating to carrycots, prams and similar baby conveyances.
Babies are transported in carrycots, carrycots with wheel bases, prams and similar conveyances from the age of O up to 6 months or more. Carrycots, prams and similar conveyances are also used for babies aged 0 up to 6 months or more, to sleep in and to rest in through the day-time and night-time and until such time as a free-standing cot or bed is used.
This invention takes account of the considerable time which a baby aged 0 to 6 months or more, spends in the carrycot, pram or similar baby conveyance, in the ways described above. This invention is designed accordingly, to provide for the baby, both visual and tactile stimulus and also additional insulation and cushioning support.
According to the present invention, there is provided a detachable baby bolster made of non-toxic, fabric and/or non-fabric materials, of a consistently cleanable kind, comprising a front piece, permanently affixed to, and with padding material inserted in between, a back piece of the same size and shape as the front piece, and having the means for detachable and reusable adhesion to the inside vertical face of a carrycot, pram, or similar baby conveyance.
Preferably, the front piece of the detachable baby bolster is composed of a variety of pattern, colour and texture in its design.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the detachable baby bolster in cross-section; Figure 2 shows in diagram form, and from above, two positions, A and B, in which the detachable baby bolster may be attached to the inside vertical face of the carriage body of carrycot, pram, or similar baby conveyance.
Figure 3 shows in perspective, one of the ways in which the detachable baby bolster may be attached, as in Figure 2 A, and also indicates position 2 B, that is, extending continuously around both sides and top, as either one, or as more than one, detachable baby bolster.
Referring to the drawing, the detachable baby bolster comprises a front piece 10 and a back piece 13 of the same size and shape, with padding material 12 inserted between front and back pieces, as shown in Fig 1. The front piece 10, padding material 12 and back piece 13 are permanently affixed together by means of stitching, quilting, adhesive or similar means (not shown).
All components described, including the means for detachable and reusable adhesion, are made of non-toxic, fabric, and/or non-fabric materials and are of a consistently cleanable kind.
The means for detachable and reusable adhesion (not shown), for example, horizontal and/or vertical adhesive strips or backing; ties; horizontal clip; hook and loop fastener, or similar means, enables the detachable baby bolster to be presented to the inside vertical face of the carrycot, pram, or similar baby conveyance carriage body 20, so that the baby bolster will be securely and vertically positioned therein, as shown in Fig 3. The carriage body of the carrycot, pram or similar baby conveyance as indicated in Fig 2 and Fig 3, is a diagram and a generalised illustration, respectively, relating to carrycots, prams and similar baby conveyances in general, and not to any specific model or make.
The front of the detachable baby bolster 10, being the side facing into the the carriage body of carrycot, pram or similar baby conveyance, when vertically positioned and attached therein, incorporates non-toxic, cleanable, fabric and/or non-fabric materials of a variety of pattern, colour and texture (not shown), to provide visual and tactile stimulus for the baby aged between 0 to 6 months or more.
The padding material 12 provides additional insulation and cushioning support when the detachable baby bolster is positioned and attached by means of detachable and reusable adhesion (not shown) to the inside vertical face of the carriage body of carrycot, pram, or similar baby conveyance 20: for example, when the pram, or carrycot with wheel base, or similar baby conveyance is used to transport a baby; or for example, when a carrycot without wheel base, or similar baby conveyance, is used to transport a baby aged 0 to 6 months or more, in the back seat of a motor vehicle, or for example, when a baby is resting or sleeping in a carrycot, pram or similar baby conveyance, at any time.
The means for detachable and reusable adhesion (not shown), allows the detachable baby bolster to be removed, re-positioned at least once, or replaced: for example, in order to rotate it, or interchange it with another detachable baby bolster having a differently composed front 10 design (not shown), or in order for the detachable baby bolster to be cleaned, or for any other purpose.
The variable size, shape and dimensions of the detachable baby bolster are related to, and can be adapted to fit, the size, shape and dimensions of carrycots, prams and similar baby conveyances in which this invention will be used: so that each detachable baby bolster fits along the vertical inside face of the carriage body of carrycot, pram or similar baby conveyance, as shown in Fig 2, either singly, or as a pair, along one, or both sides, as shown in Fig 2 A; or continuously, either as one complete, or as several, positioned end to end, around the sides and top of the carriage body 20, as shown in Fig 2 B.
