Wafer biscuits, making. - In machinery for making wafer biscuits and the like, the baking- plates 1 are each provided with only one pair of wheels or rollers 3 and adjacent sets of plates are connected by brackets 5 which are secured to the forward ends of the bottom plates 1 and engage the axles of the next plates. The single pair of rollers is preferably arranged at the rear end of the plates. With this arrangement, the plates rapidly approach the horizontal position when rounding the end roller-track between the lower and upper runs, thereby allowing the plate-opening cam 10 to be disposed nearer to the end of the machine than is usual. The hood 12 extends the whole length of the machine so that the plates are not cooled when they are opened. The batter supply apparatus is contained within the hood which is provided with an opening 13 for manipulation of the cooked articles. The batter supply device may be of the reciprocating supply pipe type in which case the pipe extends through a slot in the casing and carries a shutter which moves with the pipe and closes the slot. The end roller track 14 may be double. The plates may be carried in frames and the rollers 3 and brackets 5 mounted on the bottom frame.
