Gaseous currents, materials carried by; air and gases, controlling circulation of. - A process of drying finely-divided material consists in dispersing it in a circulating current of gas the temperature of which is maintained by the rejection at intervals of a portion of the circulating gas and the addition of hot-gas; wet material being added to the circulating gas prior to the addition of hot gas and subsequently to the removal of dried material. The wet material is fed through a hopper i into a continuous duct a through which the gas is circulated by a fan b, while hot gas is admitted at j. The bulk of the dried material in the gas is separated in a cyclone separator c. A part of the gas is discharged into a second separator f from which the gas is withdrawn by a fan h. In a modification, the fan h is dispensed with.
