Fluid-pressure.- In means fcr effecting the application of the fluid-pressure brakes of railway trains, when a predetermined speed is exceeded and comprising a valve operated by a speed governor, the valve is arranged to vent the equalizing chamber of the driver's valve. The valve 76<x> controlling a passage 77<x> adapted to connect a pipe 52<e> leading from the equalizing chamber of the driver's valve to atmosphere is adapted to be opened by the stem 80 of a speed governor through a lost motion device comprising a head 78<x> on the valve stem disposed in the tubular end of the governor stem. The valve is normally held seated bv a spring 81<x>. The valve stem can be adjusted by a screw 80<x> to set the device for operation at the desired speed.
