Abstract

Ironing - machines specially constructed for treating collars. - In a machine for ironing (or folding and ironing) and shaping double-fold collars, there is provided a shaping device comprising three rollers 8 . . 10 geared to each other at their upper ends and supported in bearings at their upper ends, one axle 9<a> being extended downwardly to drive all the rollers from the main shaft 21. The roller 8 is yieldingly held against the other rollers by a spring 12. The two larger rollers 9, 10 are rubber covered, whilst the smaller roller 8 is of plain polished metal. An endless belt 12<a>, tensioned by a spring 13 passes round the three rollers. The folder and ironer comprise a rotary disc, driven from shaft 21, and gas-heated saddleshaped boxes 4, 5 straddling the disc. The collar is passed from the ironer to the shaper through a guideway 17. The box 5 is mounted at one end' of a lever 6, Fig. 5, the other end of which is slidably supported on a rod between a spring 7 and stop 7<a> so as to be free to rise and fall. The collar is discharged downwardly over a guide 19.
