Abstract

A medicament for the promotion of hair growth by topical or parenteral administration comprises a plant extract known as Chamaemelon or Chamomile and may include malt or bay rum as additional components and be in the form of a solution in water, or as a lotion, oil, cream or aerosol.

Description

SPECIFICATION Medicament This invention relates to a medicament which particularly exhibits the property of restoring or encouraging regrowth of hair, especially on the scalp.

Although there are many different kinds of preparations for restoring hair growth on the market, universal success with such preparations has not yet been proved to any one of these. In addition such preparations are often expensive to produce.

An object of this invention is to obviate or mitigate the problems of known treatments for loss of hair.

According to the present invention there is provided a medicament for the promotion of hair growth comprising the substance known as Chamaemelon or Chamomile as active ingredient and a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle, unguent or excipient.

Preferably the medicament is made up for topical administration, but it is not possible to formulate an injection solution.

The medicament may also contain malt and bay rum.

Preferably the medicament is made by extracting the substance from a plant known to contain the substance Chamaemelon or Chamomile, drying the extract and mixing a proportion thereof with water.

Thereafter the mixture is brought to the boil, allowed to simmer for a short time and then allowed to cool. Optionally a quantity of malt and/or bay rum is then added.

The medicament may contain extracts from another plant. It may suitably be prepared as a lotion, oil or cream to be applied directly to the scalp or bald area or alternatively it may be made up as an aerosol.

The substance Chamaemelon or Chamomile has previously been used as a food additive.

This invention has been privately tested over a number of years and no ill side effects have been found. It works quickly and has always had excellent results.

This invention has been found capable of curing baldness in both people and animals, the latter rapidly regrowing hair on bald areas people taking somewhat longer than animals to recoverfrom hair loss. Using this hair restorer the recovery of hair growth has been permanent.

Preparation of the medicament will now be described by way of the following example: EXAMPLE A plant material containing the substance Chamaemelon or Chamomile is dried and 30 g thereof is added to one gallon of water which is then brought to the boil, boiled for 5 minutes, removed from heat and 30 g of dried malt added, and then reboiled for 5 minutes. After cooling and straining, 240 ml of bay rum is added.

2. A medicament according to Claim 1 wherein it is made up in a form suitable for topical administration.

3. A medicament according to Claim 2 wherein it is prepared as a lotion, oil, cream or aerosol.

4. A medicament according to Claim 1 wherein it is formulated as an injection solution.

5. A medicament according to any one of the preceding Claims further comprising a quantity of malt and/or bay rum.

6. The substance known as Chamaemelon or Chamomile for use in the promotion of hair growth.

A method of forming a medicament for the promotion of hair growth comprising extracting the substance Chamaemelon or Chamomile from a plant known to contain said substance, drying the extract and mixing a proportion thereof with water, boiling the mixture, simmering for a short time and then cooling.

8. A method of forming a medicament for the promotion of hair growth according to the Example hereinbefore.

SPECIFICATION Medicament This invention relates to a medicament which particularly exhibits the property of restoring or encouraging regrowth of hair, especially on the scalp. Although there are many different kinds of preparations for restoring hair growth on the market, universal success with such preparations has not yet been proved to any one of these. In addition such preparations are often expensive to produce. An object of this invention is to obviate or mitigate the problems of known treatments for loss of hair. 5. A medicament according to any one of the preceding Claims further comprising a quantity of malt and/or bay rum.

6. The substance known as Chamaemelon or Chamomile for use in the promotion of hair growth.

A method of forming a medicament for the promotion of hair growth comprising extracting the substance Chamaemelon or Chamomile from a plant known to contain said substance, drying the extract and mixing a proportion thereof with water, boiling the mixture, simmering for a short time and then cooling.
