Abstract

Inductances.-A flat spiral coil A is mounted in a circular hole in a sheet of insulating material of approximately the same thickness as the coil, on either side of which are mounted other insulating sheets one of which has holes F, G and the other slots H, J to accommodate the ends of the wire. The inductance is varied by means of a shading sheet N of conducting material and of appropriate shape mounted on a spindle M. The insulating sheets are mounted on supporting rods at the corners. The coil A may be of thinlyinsulated-wire wound in a single layer between spring-pressed discs mounted on a shaft.
