Abstract
217,543. Etablissements Recherches et Constructions Scientifiques Soc. Anon., (Assignees of BrouckÞre, L. de). June 12, 1923, [Convention date] Cabinets; clamping-devices; racks. - In a cabinet containing papers, drawings, &c. filed between covers 2 which are supported vertically between transverse bars 3, and which can be exposed for inspection on a folding-down table 4 constituting in its closed position a door for the cabinet, the movement of the table to its open position and the return movement of the covers to their vertical position are controlled by a single compensating device. The latter comprises a weight 11, or a system of springs, attached to one end of the table 4 by ropes 12 passing over pulleys 14, and to the lower ends of rods 20 fixed to the end pieces of the covers by ropes 17 passing over pulleys 18. The outer end of the table 4 is hinged to a connecting rod 7 swinging on a pivot 8 on the side of the cabinet. The covers, Fig. 4, are provided with end pieces 25 between which the papers &c. are normally held flat by springs on the two leaves of the cover. The springs of the upper leaf tend to roll it up, as shown in Fig. 4; their free ends are secured to a block 23 bevelled so as to engage in a notched portion of the end piece 25, to hold the upper leaf extended.
