Delivery apparatus.-In sheet-delivery mechanism comprising endless chains with grippers mounted on shafts carried in brackets attached to the chains, the lack of rigidity of the brackets is overcome by providing abutments thereon adapted, at certain periods of the travel of the chains. to engage links of the chains other than those to which the brackets are attached. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the shaft 1 of the gripper 3 and the shaft 2 of the coacting pad 4 are carried by brackets 10 attached bv rivets 11 to a pair of links of the chains 7, the brackets 10 having extensions formed with abutments 12 adapted to contact with abutments 13, on plates 14 attached to other links of the chains, so as to support the brackets rigidly at the time they are passing round the sprockets 8. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, additional abutments 16. on arms 15 of the brackets 10, coact with other chain abutments 17 to support the brackets when on the horizontal runs. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, lengthened chain pins 19 engage slots 18 in the brackets 10, the pins providing rigid support by contacting with the upper ends of the slots when the chains are straight and with the lower ends of the slots when the chains are passing round the sprockets.
