Abstract

Locking by positive detents.-Locking means for the wheels of perambulators comprises a dog clutch controlled by a hand-lever disposed adjacent the handle of the vehicle. The member 1 of the clutch is secured to the wheel spokes 4 by a two-part ring 5 to which the clutch member 1 is attached by screws 6. The other member 9 of the clutch is slidably mounted upon the axle of the wheels and is urged into the engaged position by a spring 10 abutting a member 11 fixed on the axle. The means for controlling the clutch may comprise a handle 20 rigidly secured to a shaft 19 pivoted upon the handle 18 of the vehicle. A Bowden wire 14 extends from a disc 21 on the rod 19 to the slidable clutch member 9. The arrangement is such that when the handle 20 is drawn towards the handle 18 the clutch is disengaged. The control handle or trigger may instead be so arranged as normally to hold the clutch in the disengaged position.
