Abstract

217,151. Jones, D. Palmer-, and Scaffolding (Great Britain), Ltd. Jan. 5,1924. Scaffolding.-A clamping device for scaffold poles comprises a U-shaped member 1 for embracing one pole 3 and having its ends formed as curved seats 5 for a second pole 4 placed at rightangles, and a wedge member 6 fitting between the poles and adapted to be drawn downwards by a screw 13 acting in a bearing plate 12 to wedge the tubes apart. The wedge member has a groove 7 to fit against one tube and a screwed lug 9 to engage the bolt 13. It is also provided with shoulders 11 to engage the U-shaped member for temporary support during assembling, and also with side lugs 10 which bear against the curved ends of the arms 1 for clamping two poles in parallel relationship, Fig. 3. The undersides of the arms mav be recessed to form seats for the bearing plate 12.
