Abstract

349,841. Scaffold clamps. AKIENS, J. T., AKIENS, H., AKIENS, A. F. B., AKIENS, F. S. W., and AKIENS, S. C. L., 27, Payne Street, Leicester. July 30, 1930, No. 22945. [Class 20 (ii).] A scaffold clamp of the type in which a main member embraces one body and is provided with apertured portions to receive the other body disposed, at an angle to the first body, and in which clamping is effected by means of a bolt taking into a detachable bedding plate and forcing the bodies together, is characterized by the provisions of grooves 5 in the arms of the main member 1 to receive the edges of the bearing plate 6, and recesses 9 at the ends of the grooves to receive lateral projections 8 on one end of the bearing plate. The grooves 5 may be of dovetailed formation to receive the correspondingly shaped edges of the bearing plate. A clamping plate 10 with supporting arms 11 may be interposed between the screw and one body to prevent injury to the body by the end of the screw. A further double-grooved clamping member may also be provided between the bodies clamped.
