Abstract
318,347. Marshall, A. C., and Preist, A. S. July 16, 1928. Scaffolding.-A clamp for use in scaffolding for clamping poles together at various angles comprises two twopart clamping members universally jointed together. The parts of each member are hinged together at 5 and 6 and are shaped to enclose a tube which is clamped between them by a bolt 14 in one member screwing into a pivoted U-shaped piece 13 mounted on a bolt 10 in the other member. The piece 13 is shaped at its inner edge so that it can be drawn into contact with the tube by the bolt 14. The bolts 10 of the two members are provided with eye-shaped ends linked together to form a universal joint. A member 16 having a projecting lug 19 and a toothed rib 18 may be pivoted to each bolt 10 to act as a support for the upper clamp and tube in each case, the toothed rib biting into the tube held in the lower clamp.
