Mechanical constructions, details for building up.-A toy building element comprises a U-shaped clamp, Fig. 3, having an opening in each of its two arms through which a rod 7 is adapted to be held loosely, a screw 8 passing through a perforation in the base of the clamp to engage another rod 7 by means of its thread. This clamp is described in conjunction with the known clamp, shown in Fig. 2, for building up various toy structures, the clamp in Fig. 2 comprising a U-shaped member 1 with a screw 5 which presses the rods 7 one against the other. The wheelbarrow shown in Fig. 6 comprises a series of joints as shown in Fig. 2 in which the rods 16, 18, 19 are secured together by screwed pins 5, and a wheel shaft 17 that is loosely mounted in the clamps constructed as shown in Fig. 3, the screws 8 penetrating the rods 16. A modified loose joint for a rod 7 is shown in Fig. 7, the screw 8 engaging in the end of the other rod 7.
