Abstract

Changing colour effects are obtained on animal fibres by waxing directly, that is without alkali, the chlorinated or otherwise oxidized fibres with paraffin wax, beeswax, ceresin, stearin &c. The wax may be applied before or after or without dyeing. In the first case a warm or hot dye-bath is required. In an example, wool yarn is chlorinated, dyed, dried and drawn through melted paraffin wax. Wool thus treated is stated to retain warmth well. Specification 183,249, [Class 120 (iii), Yarns &c.], is referred to.
