Abstract
216,460. Johansson, C. E. April 26, 1923. L i n c a r - dimension gauges.-In a gauge for measuring internal dimensions, of the kind comprising a head secured to a handle, a fixed or adjustable measuring g stud, and a sliding stud which actuates a pointer movable over a scale, the correct positioning of the gauge is facilitated by the provision in the head 1 of two studs 6 secured to a sliding plate 23, which is actuated by springs 25 to move the studs 6 parallel to the sliding measuring-stud 5. The studs 6 are situated at equal distances on either side of. and their ends are located in a plane perpendicular to the direction of movement of the stud 5. so that when the gauge is in use the studs 6 will so position the head that the aligned studs 4. 5 are in a diametral plane of the tube being measured. The measuring-stud 4, which may comprise a number of sections screwed together, is screwed into the head 1, and is locked in adjusted position by a screw 7. The stud 5 actuates a pointer 10 which moves over a scale 22, and an edge of the pointer 10 actuates a pointer 16, as described in Specification 196,925. To ensure that the studs 4, 5 are in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tube when readings are taken, the handle 2 is adjusted vertically until the maximum reading is obtained. The pointer 10 may be looked in any position by a spring-actuated looking bolt.
