Abstract

216,393. Crocker, S. H. July 30, 1923. Clamping-devices. - In a file of the kind in which the letters &c. are secured between a clamping-plate g and a base a by a bifurcated spring- controlled lever capable of exerting pressure in its plane of rotation, the lever comprises a pair of limbs f<2>, f<3> connected together by a resilient hand operated portion f<1>, the limb f<2> being pivoted in a support b<2>, while the limb f<3> is attached to the clamping-plate g. The support b<2> is formed on a lug b<1> pressed out of the back b of the file, which is formed integrally with a cover piece c and base a, the back b being also formed with an opening b<3> to allow rotation of the member f<2>, which is guided by a link h secured at one end in a hole in the back piece. The limb f' is secured to the clamp by an extension e<1> which pases through a lug g<1> while the limb f<2> has also an extension which rotates in a hole formed in the lip c<1> of the cover c.
