[Class 37] A contact device particularly suitable for a potentiometer resistance comprises a spring- pressed contact arm having at one end a contacting element which engages the potentiometer resistance or other contacting element and which is dynamically balanced so that in the use of the device under conditions of vibration, e.g. in an aircraft, the two contacting elements remain uniformly pressed together. In the potentiometer rheostat shown, a spring blade 13 having a contact 12 engaging a ring or arcuate resistance 10 is supported on a fulcrum 17 formed at the end of a rigid arm 16 and at such distance from the contact 12 and hub 15 that in the event of vibration in the direction of the spindle 18 the inertia forces on either side of the fulcrum 17 are equal and opposite. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the contact arm is itself rigid, but pivotally mounted on an overhanging support and has its inner end anchored to this support by a spring.
