Abstract

216,309. Cooke, W. P. May 1, 1923. Drilling - machines; cutters.-In a tool for cutting holes in sheets of metal, wood, stone, vulcanite or any combination of these materials of the type comprising a centre pin 1 on which is mounted a pressure pad 2 engaging the work on the side opposite to a cutter 5, feed being imparted by a nut 8 mounted on a screwed part of the centre pin, the cutter body 4 is mounted directly adjacent the feed nut with the interposition of an anti-friction bearing 6. The cutter body is provided with holes or faces for the reception of tommy bars &c. and the pressure pad has an upstanding rim the inside diameter of which is approximately equal to the outside diameter of the cutter. A washer having a central hole to receive the centre pin may be, placed in an aperture which it is desired to enlarge.
