Abstract

178,634. Waine, R. Feb. 16. 1921. Boring-heads; milling- cutters; reamers.-Boring tools, reamers, &c. have separate cutters, so arranged that the effective diameter of the tool is unchanged by grinding. A base 2 contains recesses for cylindrical cutters 4, the cutting-edges d of which project beyond the base. Set screws 5 press the cutting-edges against fixed stops 6, so that they are always registered in the same position. The cutters may be secured in position by bolts 7 or by a flange on the end of the spindle 3. Any number of cutters may be used, and they may be fitted in separate housings attached to the periphery of the base, or one cutter may be used at the end of a revolving arm.
