Abstract

A carpet protector to facilitate painting of the skirting board without removing or damaging a fitted carpet, the design of which is shown in Figure 1. The carpet protector is to be used as shown in Figure 2. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Carpet protector This invention relates to a carpet protector, to give protection to the fitted carpet while painting the skirting board when the fitted carpet is in position.
Great difficulty is experienced when painting skirting boards with a fitted carpet left in position.
On many occasions it is impractable to lift the fitted carpet thereby risking damage to the carpet, and making proper painting of the skirting board very difficult.
According to the present invention there is a length of shaped plastic which is fitted between the fitted carpet and skirting board, and also overlaps the carpet.
Figure 1 shows the carpet protector.
Figure 2 shows the carpet protector as it will be used.
Referring to the drawing the carpet protector will be made from a length of plastic as shown in Figure 1.
One edge will be turned down with an easy bend to penetrate below the carpet level as shown in Figure 2.
1. A carpet protector to be inserted between the edge of the carpet and the skirting board to facilitate painting below the level of the carpet pile. The carpet protector is left in position until the paint has dried, therefore eliminating any damage to the carpet by wet paint. Various lengths will be used to accommodate any length of skirting board. The carpet protector is reusable.
2. The carpet protector can easily be cut to form a mitre for painting interior or exterior angles corners thereby giving full protection to the whole length of carpet along the skirting board.
3. The design of the carpet protector will hold the pile of the carpet away from the skirting, not only allowing full protection, but allowing the paint to be applied at a lower level than has been posse ble before.
