Abstract

A painter's floor aid comprises a double edged strip which can be used for all carpets or other floor coverings such that skirting boards or stair stringers can be painted or varnished. It can be butted to the skirting in the case where skirting is flush to the floor or it can be pushed under the skirting on top of the floor covering.

Description

INTRODUCTION
The normal procedure when painting a skirting board is to either take up the carpet or use masking tape on either the stairs or the floor. Both are time consuming and inefficient. By using The Painters Floor Aid protects the flooring of all types and the job is done in half the time. Contractors do not like to relay used carpets due to health and safety i.e. dust.
Where the skirting board is approx 5cm above the floor to allow for the carpet the flat edge slides in between the carpet and skirting board.
Fig. 1/1 The Painters Floor Aid is a product that protects all floor coverings and hard floor surfaces from spillages when painting skirting boards and stair stringers.
Fig. 2/1 Shows The Painters Floor Aid works by sliding the flat edge in between the carpet and the skirting.
Fig. 3/1 Shows the angle edge sits over the top of the carpet where there is no gap between the floor and skirting board pushing the carpet pile down protecting the hard floor Fig. 4/1 Shows the same principal as Fig. 3 i.e. it can be used for both left and right sides of the stairs. This product does not slide under the stringer but sits on top of the carpet compressing the pile and touching the stringer but protecting the carpet at the same time.
Fig. 5/1 is the end view of the Skirting Painters Floor Aid.
I
Specification of The Painters Floor Aid
This invention relates to a devise to enable stairs and skirting boards to be painted I varnished with carpets left in situ. It can also be used on wooden surfaces.
When painting / varnishing the skirting board or stair stringer the carpets either have to be removed or masked up using tape, but with The Painters Floor Aid in place you can paint or varnish the skirting boards and stair stringer with carpet or flooring in place.
The stair pan can be used both left and right. Once the stair pan is in place it compresses the carpet pile exposing all of the stringer enabling a smooth straight result.
Normally carpets are fitted under the skirting board. The one side of The Painters Floor Aid fits on top of the carpet and slides underneath the skirting board thus not getting paint on the carpet. If the skirting board is flush to the floor The Painters Floor Aid can be turned over and slid up against the skirting so protecting either the carpet or solid flooring.
