Abstract

A carpet edge protector for the protection of carpet in position during redecoration of skirting boards. It consists of two strips of material (5 and 6). One strip (5) with a hooked edge (7) made to fit over the carpet edge and joined to the other strip (6) which has carpet grips (8) on the underside, by clips at intervals. When these clips are closed the carpet is gripped in such a manner as to ease it away from the skirting board allowing painting to be carried out. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Carpet edge protector This invention relates to a carpet edge protector for the protection of carpet in position during redecoration of skirting boards.
With todays speedy methods of do-it-yourself room redecoration it is often a nuisance to paint a skirting board in a room that has a fitted carpet which has been securely fastened down and therefore is not easy to remove.
According to the present invention there is provided two strips of material, one with a hooked edge made to fit over the carpet edge and joined to the other strip which has carpet grips on the underside, by clips which, when closed, grip the carpet in such a manner as to ease it away from the skirting board, allowing painting to be carried out more easily.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows the carpet protector in the open position against the skirting board.
Figure 2 shows the carpet protector in the closed position against the skirting board.
Figure 3 illustrates in more detail the type of clip to be used (in the open position).
Figure 4 shows the clip in closed position.
Referring to the drawing the carpet protector consists of two strips (5 and 6) of suitable material of determinable length. One strip (5) has a hooked edge (7) running the whole length which hooks over the edge of the carpet while the other strip (6) has carpet grips (8) fitted to its underside. The two strips are connected together by clips shown in Figure 3, at various intervals and when these clips are closed as in Figure 4 the edge (9) of one strip locks on to the recessed edge (10) of the other strip. In this position sufficient tension is applied to ease the carpet away from the skirting board.
CLAIM
A carpet edge protector that will allow redecoration of skirting boards by easing carpet away from the skirting and so obviate the necessity of removing fitted carpet.
