Abstract
216,157. PrÚtot, M. May 17, 1923, [Convention date]. Heat of compression, absorbing.-Air is circulated through a conduit to the neighbourhood of the suction valves of a compressor, a part of the air being delivered to the cylinders while the remainder is conveyed through passages to cool the compressor. In the two-cylinder compressor shown, a fan 4 draws in fresh air and delivers it through a pipe 6 and branch pipes to the suction valves of the cylinders, which it supplies under slight pressure. The remaining air passes through cooling jackets 3 divided by longitudinal ribs 2, and escapes into the atmosphere. The fan or turbine may be driven from the compressor shaft, or by the motor driving the compressor, or by the compressed air. The exhaust from the motor &c. utilizing the compressed air may effect the cooling.
