Universal joints.-A flexible joint for connecting the engine with the gear box or with accessories in motor vehicles or for other purposes comprises radial arms A on one shaft tapered on two opposite faces and surrounded by caps B of indiarubber which fit within recesses D in an enclosing ring C formed in two parts for convenience of assembly. The ring may be secured directly to the other shaft or, as shown, may be similarly engaged with tapered lugs F secured to the other shaft. In a modification, two joints such as those shown are interconnected bv a short intermediate shaft.
