Abstract

215,874. Mortimer, C. Feb. 28, 1923. Vehicle lamps.-A vehicle lamp reflector comprises an upper half paraboloid 3, the horizontal lower edge of which is continued vertically downwards so as to form straight side-pieces between which is fitted a segment of a paraboloid 5, a fine coiled filament extending along the common axis and between the focii 1, 2 of the upper and lower sections respectively. A curved extension piece 4 is fitted in front of the lower section 5 and reflects light upwardly on to the front portion 7 of the upper section 3, the front portion 7 being given an excessive curvature so as to reflect light downwardly for close range illumination. A metal rib 6 is placed between the lower section 5 and the extension piece 4 so as to prevent light reflected by the lower section 5 from striking the extension piece 4 and being reflected upwardly.
