Speed - indicator transmission mechanism.-To regulate or indicate the relative speed of a machine having oppositely rotating parts, the speed of each part or of magnitudes dependent thereon act on a known device which regulates or indicates the sum of the influencing magnitudes. The rotatable cylinder frame 1 and crankshaft 2 of an internal combustion engine are coupled to a differential gear 5, the intermediate member of which drives a centrifugal governor 6. In an electric motor with a rotating stator, Fig. 2, the difference of the speeds of stator and rotor is obtained by a planet wheel gear 8 and transmitted to a tachometer dynamo 9 which can release safety devices. Alternatively the rotating parts are coupled to tachometer dynamos in series so that the total current is proportional to their relative speed.
