Abstract

215,291. Barnes, E. March 1, 1924. Spectacles. - Spectacle and like frames are provided with a double bridge formed of a single length of wire or strip metal constituting a closed figure. The sides 1 are shaped to the curvature of the eye frames and are secured thereto. the horizontal portion 2 of the bridge being bent back into a plane at right angles to that of the lenses. To permit flexibility the lower bridge portion 3 may be thinner than the upper portion 2, and is maintained in its adjusted position by means of a coupling device 8, which is fitted with a pad 9 to rest on the wearer's nose. In making the bridge, a ring of wire is placed over four stops 11. 12, 13, 14, Fig. 8 and the sections pressed to the form required, after which the upper portion 2 is bent as in Fig. 3.
