Spectacles.-In the type of spectacle frame provided with supports additional or alternative to that of the bridge and which bear on other parts of the face, a lining or covering is provided for the bridge for the purpose of carrying such supports. The bridge lining or covering may be provided with integral extensions forming or holding the supports or the latter may extend from a separate part or parts enclosed by a folding of the bridge covering by which connection is made to the bridge. A number of examples of this construction are described, of which the following are typical. The bridge members 37, 38, Fig. 1, are provided with a covering 39, Fig. 2, initially of the shape shown, but when attached to the bridge members have the parts 40, 41 completely bent round such members. The extensions 42 then rest on the face at each side of the nose. In place of a single portion bent completely round the bridge members one or both of the parts 40, 41, may be made thicker and slotted, as in Fig. 8, and then bent on to the bridge members, or the whole covering may be of two sheets one each side of the bridge members and united by a web beneath the lower member, or above the upper member, Figs. 15, 16. The extensions 42 may be fitted with spring portions or knobs 47, Fig. 22, bearing on the cheeks of the wearer.
