Abstract

Printing-surfaces; holders for loose types; typebars.-A printing-forme, which may be used as an address plate, comprises a metal sheet with a number of projections stamped up therefrom, and. removable printing-strips overlying the projections and held thereby. The sheet-metal holder 10 is formed with corrugations 13 over a part of its surface, from which corrugations circular parts 12 are stamped up. Embossed printing-strips 30 are provided with integral edge flanges 32 which engage the projections 15 formed by the overhanging portions of the parts 12 and are held thereby on the holder 10. When used as an address plate, end rails 16 are provided on the, holder which are recessed at 27 adjacent to the printing-strips so as to allow bearing wheels 28 on an inking-roller 28<1> to bring the latter into contact with the printing-strips as the holder is drawn along by chains 29. An identification card 18 is secured on the holder by a flange 21 and tongues 17, 23, 24. Projections 26 are also provided on the holder to hold index tabs 40. The sheet-metal holder may be attached to a printing-drum, the ends being held on the drum by screws.
