Abstract
214,359. Worsley, A. E. Feb. 1, 1023- Moulds.-Relates to moulds for concrete or clay blocks, bricks &c. of the type in which the walls of the mould are expanded and contracted through means operating upon a pair of walls, and consists in providing the mould walls with interlocking ribs and grooves to prevent outward movement during tamping or compression. Fig. 3 shows one form of mould, comprising end walls 3 operated by screws 13 and operating the side walls 4 through links 15, in which the ends are furnished with V-shaped projections 6 adapted to interlock with corresponding recesses 5 on the sides. Preferably the parts 5, 6 are of metal. Fig. 8 shows a modification in which the ribs and grooves are rectangular, and, to permit of endwise withdrawal of the projections 6, the links 15 are formed with reduced portions 17 passing through slots 19 in bars 10 attached to the sides, expansion of the sides being effected by shoulders 18 on the links. The end walls 3 may be operated by cam-plate 22 which may be associated with springs 26 embracing guide rods 27. The mould walls are preferably of wood faced with metal sheets 9.
