SPECIFICATION Sanitary unit The present invention relates to a sanitary unit which permits the prefabrication of an assembly for the distribution of sanitary water and the discharges in a manner which simplifies to a high degree the erection of a building, particularly the work as regards plumbing.
The sanitary unit according to the invention is of the type formed of a shell of generally parallelipipedic form, which has an access door and of which the walls are formed in such manner as to present a good sound insulation, the said shell comprising internally a flushing system adapted to be connected to a water closet pan, controlled ventilation means with nozzles which are open on the side walls of the shell, cold water and hot water distributing pipes, the free ends of which are open on the side walls and discharge pipes which are open on the said side walls, and is characterised in that the access door forms the upper part of a side wall, the lower part of this wall being adapted to receive the W.C. pan, and opening on the said lower part is a discharge pipe which is provided with a lip joint, the flushing system being disposed facing the door and being controlled by an operating member provided on the said door and connected by a flexible connection to the control means of the said flushing system, the said flexible connection having a length sufficient for permitting the free manipulation of the door and the cold water and hot water distribution pipes opening at least on two walls of the shell other than that formed in part by the door and are threaded.
Because of this arrangement, it is sufficient, at the time of construction and by means of a template, to provide the locations of the different conduits and pipes and to place the shell at the location which is provided, the different distribution pipes being connected by flexible pipes to the corresponding different valves.
Thus, when the sanitary units are positioned, the connection thereof can be effected without using tools. Furthermore, it is possible to position the different sanitary units at different locations around the shell.
The shell preferably comprises internally an electric water heater.
Supplementary cold water and hot water pipes may be provided for feeding a kitchen with a corresponding discharge or outlet pipe.
It is also possible for an electricity switchboard to be provided within the shell.
According to one feature as regards the construction, the shell is provided with a metal frame, on which are fixed glass wool panels and plaster panels.
In order that the arrangement may be perfectly adjusted, the metal frame is suitably supported by screw jacks.
In order that the sanitary unit may be perfectly integrated between the floors, the shell preferably comprises in its upper part a section of which the height can be adjusted.
The invention will now be described in greater detail by reference to particular embodiments which are given simply by way of example and which are shown in the accompanying drawings. In these drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of one arrangement according to the invention, Figure 2 is a sectional view along the line ll-ll of Figure 1, Figure 3 shows a detail in perspective, Figure 4 is a sectional view along the line IV-IV of Figure 1, Figure 5 is a plan view, Figure 6 is a sectional view along the line VI-VI of Figure 5, Figure 7 is a sectional view along the line VII-VII of Figure 6, Figure 8 is a perspective view of a detail, Figures 9 to 1 6 are plan views of different possibilities of arranging an assembly comprising a W.C., kitchen and bathroom, Figure 1 7 is a plan view of a simplified modified construction of the invention, Figure 1 8 is a sectional view along the line XVlIl-XVllI of Figure 17.
The arrangement which is shown in the Figures comprises a cabinet 1 made from a metal structure 2 formed of welded tubes in order to provide a framework of generally parallelepipedic form.
The metal structure 2 rests on screw jacks 3 for permitting the structure to be placed in a perfectly vertical position.
The metal structure 2 comprises lugs 4, which permit the arrangement to be fixed against a wall.
The metal structure 2 is covered on three faces A, B and C by glass wool panels 5 and plaster panels 6, which are fixed by screws 7.
In this way, a unit having a good sound insulation is obtained.
One of the faces of the arrangement is formed by a door 10, by which access to the interior is permitted. This door is isoplanar and is pivoted by means of hinges 11 at a vertical edge on the structure 2, a lock 1 2 being provided.
The arrangement has in its interior a water flushing unit 1 3 disposed facing the door 10, the said unit comprising a member 1 4 (see Figure 3) for operating purposes, said member being connected to a cable 1 5 sliding in a sheath 1 6 fixed at one end to a stop member 1 7 and at the other end to the door 10, the said cable being terminated by a pulling knob 18. The cable 1 5 and the sheath 16 have a length which is sufficient for permitting the door 10 to be opened.
The upper part of the arrangement com prises a panel or frieze 20 which is fast with the framework and which comprises lugs 21 by which it is possible to fix, by means of screws 22, firstly translucent panels 23 and secondly elements 24 for making possible the connection of the arrangement to the ceiling and as a function of the height of the latter.
Lighting units 25, for example, fluorescent tubes, may be provided behind the panels 23.
Installed in the unit is an electric board or panel, which is indicated as a whole by the reference 27 and which comprises a distribution panel with protection by calibrated fuses for the supply of the domestic electric circuits; 2 lightening circuits 10 amp.
1 PC + T kitchen circuit 32 amp.
1 PC + T kitchen circuit 1 6 amp.
3 PC comfort + T circuits 1 6 amp.
the electric water heater 10 amp.
the controlled mechanical ventilation.
Mounted in the unit is a water heater 28, which is connected to a cold water inlet 29, which is itself connected to the water Supply system 30, with interposition of a meter 31 and a stop cock 32.
Arranged on the inlet pipe 29 is a branch pipe 33 feeding the flushing unit 13, this latter being supported by a pipe 35 supplying the W.C. pan and provided with a bend or elbow 36 adapted to be connected to the said pan.
The flushing unit or cistern 1 3 is supported by a cross member 34.
A discharge or outlet pipe 37 is provided and comprises (see Figure 7) a lip joint 38, so that the connection is made simply by inserting the said pipe 37 of the pan into the joint 38.
A second outlet is provided for the used or waste water, this outlet being adapted to be connected to a common pipe and provided with two connections or couplings 40 and 41, these latter having lip joints at their free ends which are of the same type as the joint 38.
The hot water outlet 43 from the tank 28 is connected to a pipe 44 discharging on one side of the unit and a pipe 45 discharging on the other side.
The free ends of these pipes 44 are 45 are screw threaded for the purpose of receiving corresponding threaded rings which are fast with flexible pipes 48.
A secondary pipe 49 is also provided on the cold water circuit, one end 50 of which is open on one face of the unit, while the other end 51 is open on the other surface. These ends are threaded for the purpose of receiving threaded rings 47 fast with the flexible pipes 48.
Close to its upper part, the unit is provided with a two-speed ventilation apparatus 55, of which the intake is connected to flexible sleeves 56 and 56a, whereas the outlet 57 is adapted to be connected either to a shaft of the building or to a shaft provided in other similar units arranged one above the other, floor by floor, in a block of flats.
Plugs 58 are provided for closing off the free ends of the flexible sleeves 56 or 56a which are not in use.
Along the vertical edges of the face which comprises the door, it is possible to provide U-section members 60 which are able to serve as guide means for the fitting of two partitions 61, consisting for example of squares of plaster (see Figure 8).
As will be seen from Figures 9 to 16, it is possible, starting from the unit, to develop different installations. The face which is provided with the door 10 in all cases receives the pan of the W.C., but on the other hand it is possible to provide the kitchen against the face A (Figures 9 and 14), or against the face B (Figures 10, 13, 1 5 and 16). The bathroom may be arranged in different ways and be disposed against the face C (see Figures 9, 10, 1 3 and 14) or against the face A (see Figures 11,12, 15 and 16).
Figures 1 7 and 1 8 show a simplified modification of the invention, which is more particularly intended for being used for the equipping of hotels.
The arrangement in Figures 1 7 and 1 8 comprises a parallelipipedic volume or area 65 produced by the same technique as that corresponding to the fabrication of the arrangement of the preceding constructional form.
The area 65 comprises three walls E, F, G and a front wall with an access door 66, beneath which is to be positioned a W.C. pan 67.
Arranged in the volume or area 65 is a flushing system 68 of the same type as the flushing system 1 3 and also controlled by an operating member.
The flushing system is connected to a discharge pipe 69 and is supported by a discharge pipe 70 for the water which is used.
Extending into the volume or space 65 is a ventilation shaft 71, which is adapted to be connected to a corresponding shaft of the floor above or the floor below and which is provided with an opening 72.
The pipes for the distribution of hot water (73) and for cold water (74) are disposed within the space 65 and the pipe 73 comprises two branch pipes 77 and 78 for the distribution of hot water to a wash basin and a bath, these branch pipes being threaded at their free ends for receiving a threaded ring 80 fast with a flexible pipe 81.
The discharge pipe 70 for the water which has been used comprises a smaller connecting pipe 83 so that the pipes for emptying a bath and a wash basin can be connected thereto.
The vertical pipe 74 comprises two branch pipes 82 and 82a for the distribution of cold water, these branch pipes being threaded for receiving rings 80 on flexible pipes 81.
In the constructional form according to Figures 1 7 and 18, provision has been made for the wash basin and the bath to be situated beyond the wall E, the different outlets being disposed on this face, but quite obviously the outlets could be provided on the other faces or walls F or G.
During the construction of a building, a template is provided for forming the openings and in the floors or ceilings for the passage of the different pipes, the arrangement being then placed in position and suitably connected.
Consequently, the plumbing work is decreased to very considerable proportions and an assembly is obtained in which everything is grouped, this facilitating the subsequent operations.
Quite obviously, a certain number of the devices have not been illustrated, such as, for example, the safety system of the water heater, but it is quite evident that it would be possible to incorporate numerous modifications as regards detail, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention.
