Abstract
Soaps in the form of dry powder are obtained by forcing fats or oils, and sodium or potassium hydroxide and water, in a finely divided state through one or more nozzles into a container so as to cause intimate mixing. If the fat contains fatty acid, a mixture of alkali hydrate and carbonate corresponding respectively to the glyceride and acid is used. Further carbonate, with or without additional water, may be used to produce a washing-powder. Air, preferably heated, superheated steam, or the pressure of solutions of the alkali or carbonate highly heated in a pressure vessel may be used as the forcing means. Liquid or solid fillers, perfumes, or colours may be simultaneously blown in.
