Abstract

213,088. Cruse, H. Feb. 26, 1923. Aluminium acetate is obtained by anodic solution of aluminium in an electrolyte of acetic acid, which may be crude or pure accordingly to the purity of salt desired. The reaction is carried on until the whole of the acid is neutralized, which is signalized by a diminution in the current. The cell may be of wood or of aluminium: in the latter case it forms the cathode. The cell may be water-jacketed for the purpose of heating or cooling.
