Abstract

Clutches, friction.-The removable basket h of a centrifugal drying machine has a hollow hub g which extends from the bottom of the basket to the top and rests centrally on the driving shaft c through the intermediary of a thrust bearing e. The shaft carries the member k of a centrifugal clutch, with a number of compartments housing movable segments r which slide outwards when the shaft rotates. The segments r are faced with friction material r<1> and the hub is carried round by friction. At the end of the action the brake shoes j are applied to the inside of the hub; the basket is removed by means of the hooks f, and is replaced by another.
