Abstract

212,460. Spence, J. T. May 22, 1923. Barrel hinges have a compression spring 4 housed in the aligned socket members 1<a>, 2<a> of the flap members 1, 2 respectively, a liner 3 and a securing bolt 5 being also provided. The spring is used to serve as a means acting to push the socket members apart axially and thereby to lessen the wear on the engaging surfaces of the socket members. The bolt 5 has a squared neck 5a to prevent its rotary movement in the socket 1<a>. Grease may be used in the socket members.
